They lighten the look of dead gray fibers but leave those fibers sitting on the wood, which affects how the next coat of stain absorbs and how long the finish lasts. Our EFC-38 Wood Cleaner is formulated to release the lignin that binds those dead cells to the surface so they wash away with the rest of the buildup.
